Day 19 Snowville to Willard
We had an early start today, 7 AM. We started climbing right away, about 800' over 20 k (12 mi), but it wasn't bad. We had nice fresh pavement on the I84.
We passed by the ATK rocket building plants. The bldgs were laid out over 10 k at least. Set against the hills to the left (the Wasatch Mountain range). Wonder what's going on inside the hills. Bet SMERSH would like to know!
As we are very near the Great Salt Lake, we passed by some ponds and salt patches. It smelled a little like the ocean. Later we came by some marshland. There was more agriculture happening as we got closer to the town of Corrine.
At Brigham, around 11, we stopped at the grocery store. They had chocolate milk on sale, only .59 each. May as well get two (each). Not the low fat stuff either. We drank one in the parking lot, then went to the grassy area across the street for our sandwich and the other choc milk. After getting on the bikes again, we agreed that one choc milk is enough.
Brigham City has a nicely tree lined entrance with some neat brick houses. There are also fruit orchards, fruit stands, a couple of drive-in restaurants along the way, and a nice looking main street (pic). Pop 18,000
We arrived at Willard State Park at 11:45 and found our way to the group area. It's a nice spot here. Today makes up for yesterday. A nice ride and nice place to stay, and no head wind to speak of.
Bottom line: 108 k (65 mi), 4:05 ridng time out of 4;45 trip, avg speed 26.9 kph (16.2 mph)
btw, the flat totals for the group have dropped to less than 10 per day from 20 plus. No more goat heads here?

Way to go Randy. By the time to read this you will have made it to Salt Lake City, that is an incredable acheivement. Know let me see if I have this straight; the secret formula for powering a 30+ fella across the continent is - plenty of chocolate milk? -- Peddle on Randy/ Terry M.
Hey Randy,
Just checking to see if you have entered Saturday's blog but you must still be on the road. We prayed that it went well for you today. Missing you but we are managing here....after dinner came up to the lodge and took some pics with Chris Osgood and the Stanley cup. Shelley is trying to round up the rest of the Detroit Red Wings for a group photo to send to you tomorrow. Shelley is tipping the stanley cup to her lips as I write this blog! Just kidding she is here with us. So have a good day off tomorrow and we will send you some pics tomorrow when we get home. The Vernon Girls.
