Day 40 New Hampton to Fennimore

Today we crossed the Mississippi into Wisconsin, state #8.

Our first 30 k was the worst pavement we've been on so far. Cracks and pothills you could lose a small dog in.

In E Iowa we start seeing lots of small dairies, with upright silos dotting the horizon everywhere, and on into Wisconsin as well. The farms are older and smaller (pic)

After crossing the Mississippi River, we stopped at a bike shop in Prairie du Chien and got new chains put on our bikes. My bike almost pedals itself now.

Don B (MI) fell off his bike today, breaking his oollarbone, so he's finished for the tour. Too bad. Our fourth one like that.

Totals : 166 k (101 mi) 6:35 on the saddle, 25.2 avg kph (15.1 mph)

PS Congratualations to the Delange and Mulder families with the marriage of Curtis and Katelyn. I hope you all have a great day with many blessings from above.
