Day 48 Grand Haven to Grand Rapids
Another beautiful morning for us cyclists. Joining us for the ride tgoday were over 100 cyclists from the GR area who had signed on to ride for a day, so there were lots of bikes on the road today.
We left at 8, and followed a group of riders who were a ways up the road. Turns out they were not going to follow the map, but wanted to go through the town of Grand Haven. So we were off track from the get go, although we did get to see Grand Haven as well. From there we had to find a way back without back tracking which led us on a steel bridge deck again and eventually onto I96 for about 10 miles. We eventually then joind up with the rest in Eastmanville where we had our first stop at relatives of Roger F.
We had another nice stop at Westview CRC (pic), then another at Tyler B (the cyclist who broke his collarbone a few weeks back) and there were greeters etc along the way after that as well. Claire E (MI) and Barb M (IA) led us to the gathering spot close by Calvin College. From there we all biked abou 1 mile to the college where many friends and family members of cyclists were waiting. So it's about 2 PM now. I met Len Vanderkwaak's brother and wife here (Nick and Jean) and also George Vanderbeek who used to live in BC many years ago.
So today was a nice short day with good weather and good people. Now it's time to look around the campus.
Totals for day: 82 k (50 mi), 3:12 on the saddle, 25.7 kph avg (15 mph)
Good news and answered prayers: Cynthia Aukema who had the bad fall a few weeks back and cracked her pelvis rode today! She plans to take next week off and finish the last week DV.

Thanks great news about Cindy though the poor girl must still be very sore. I hope she continues to heal well.
So, tell us, how near are you to the end? When will you start the 'countdown'?

So, you have reached the promised land! Two weeks left, but you'll take it a day at a time. I trust that the service today will be an encouragement to you and all of the other cyclists. About now you all have to be feeling a little bit worn and sore.
Tonight I lead the congregational prayer in church. I told all your appreciation for the prayer support and I saw a lot of smiles and affirming head shakes. Your name is being lifted by many here.
I told Ruth this morning that I feel more anxious about the entire tour now that you are nearing completion. I guess it's silly to tell a rider to be careful. Of course you all are just as careful as when you started. You are also now veterans in your riding. So anyway, Be Careful!!

Hey Randy,
The promised land.....wow - hope it was all you thought it would be! Well only a couple more weeks to go, we are all starting to wonder what will we all do when you guys are done? No Sea 2 Sea blogs to read! Well one positive point is that you will once again be playing in the band...we miss you up there.
