Day 26 Kremmling to Winter Park

Here we are in the wilderness of Colorado near a place called Winter Park. This is like a Manning Park Resort kind of place, except there is a pool and other facilities. We are camping down the hill a bit, find a spot that's not too bumpy and pitch your tent. (pic on Fred M's blog) The lodge is fairly nice.

As I had sweep duties yet today, it was our job to set up the breakfast and lunch tables this morning, take them down later, and load everyone's bags into the gear truck. As today's ride is very short, no one is in a hurry to leave camp.

We finally got out at 10:40, but went at a slow pace as some of us have to hang back and not get ahead of the really slow riders. We, Ed V (OR), Larry S (MI) and Gerry K (WA) stopped for lunch in Hot Sulfur Springs (didn't see any). There were probably 30 or so others there, a little overwhelming for a 1 waitress, 1 cook place.

We stopped again at Walter's for a long break and then a couple of miles up the road at Granby for dessert. Again, no use getting too far ahead. We finally reached camp at 3:15. The ride was nice, the weather was good, and no head wind until the end of the ride. We are now at 8750'. Tomorrow we start off with a 2500' climb over 30 k (18 mi) then ride downhill into Denver!
