Day 56 Sunday in St Catherines

It's about 7 AM and a few of us are in the school library catching up on blogs etc. The day's events are pretty well planned out for us, so I'll tell you what's scheduled for the day.

First off, it looks like it's going to be a nice day. There was a call for a chance of rain today earlier in the week. We hope not as the Celebration Service this afternoon will be held outdoors at Queenston Heights. (addendum - it poured at 8 AM, but it's pretty nice now at noon)

Breakfast will be served at the elementary school by Jubilee Fellowship CRC (which I believe is in Vineland). Right across the street from the school is Maranatha CRC where we will worship this morning. They are also hosting lunch for us today. After lunch is the rally preceded by a peach social put on by Covenant CRC (St. Catherines ?) For dinner, there will be a bbq put on by the churches of Welland, Wellandport, Smithville, Fenwick and Dunnville. See what I mean about support and interest? Wow.

So we are heading into the final week. As I've never been to New York, Pennsylvania, or New Jersey, it should be quite interesting and I'm looking forward to seeing those parts of the country. I'm really looking forward to arriving at Liberty State Park and seeing my family again, as well as friends and supporters and getting off my bike for more than 24 hours. That will be sweet, but I'm sure as I adjust back to "regular" life, sitting at my desk or whatever, I will think from time to time that it would be nice to be riding my bike in Colorado or Pennsylvania with all the others that we met over this summer. The ride has been a fantastic experience, but even the Beach Boys know there is no Endless Summer, or perhaps better put by the writer of Ecclesiastes, there is a time for everything under the sun (paraphrase - a time to begin a bike tour and a time to end a bike tour).

Hello Randy!
Your last weekend stop! Wow! One more week! Blessings as you carry on. We will be once again remembering all of you in our prayers today at church.
St. Catharines is the place where I lived from 1964-1971. Maranatha was the church my dad served as pastor and Beacon is the school I attended from Grade 5-11. Near the Covenant CRC is the Welland Canal and that brings memories of cycling along the wall watching the ships enter lock 1. Queenston Heights was where we used to have congregational picnics and so forth. That part of Canada brings back a lot of memories for me. Have a great time in a very beautiful part of the country!
I'm delighted to read about all the encouragement and support you folks are receiving. One more week!

Hey Randy,

I love the philosopher in you and I'm blessed by your latest posts.
A stupid part of me wants to give you advice for the next week. I just want you and Fred and fellow riders to know that my prayers will be no less in this last week. Everyday is a blessing but also a brush with unforseen danger as you ride on some difficult roads. If I was stupid enough to give that advice I would say to enjoy the wrap up week by celebrating your environment and your fellow riders, but also to still be very alert to those inherent dangers. We are amazed at your accomplishments. We are heartened too by the support you have received by those along the way. God is good!
Blessings,

Fred and Ruth Everett

Hi Randy,
All the best in the last week of the tour. What an accomplishment so far! I was wondering if any of the de Wolde or Prins clans from Ontario stopped by even though I don't think they live all that close to where you were cycling.
We pray for you and all in the Sea to Sea tour each day for safety especially in this last week.

Incredible, one week to go! We certainly look forward to your safe return and hearing even more stories and pictures. Keep it up in this last week, enjoy that last day's ride to the Atlantic! Kendra prays for you on her own now at supper every day. You've done us proud. May God bless this last week, every moment of it.

Kevin and Hilda
