A View to a Biff (Part 2)

Today is the nicest day of the year as far as the weather goes. Sunny and warm. So I took my bike to the office (with my truck) and planned a short 20 k ride before lunch. I was on my way back to the office when I wanted to stop and check something. Problem is, my foot wouldn't come out of the pedal, neither my left (which I prefer) or my right. So you know what happened next, right, I biffed it. The difficulty then is getting unlocked while laying on the ground. It's not something I hope to get good at. This is my first biff with my lock in type shoes and pedals. I've used them several times and never had a problem until today.

As you know, this isn't my first biff ever though. I biffed it last year cycling with Shelley while using "basket" pedals, and as I rode today I recalled a couple of other unfortunate bicycle incidents from my youth.

There was the time I was using my friend's bike as we did jumps on a nearby dirt pile. His bike was cool because it had monkey bars. On one of my jump landings the bike stopped but I kept on going, slamming my "unmentionable" into the stem of the monkey bars. It gave my a burning sensation for about a week. I really had to cut down on my liquid intake if you know what I mean.

Then there was the time when I had biked to a friend's place across town. We had spent part of the day visiting car dealerships, picking up new car books. It was dark and drizzly when I had to bike back home (parents weren't as protective in those days) so my new car paraphernalia was getting all wet. Trying to keep them dry kept my focus away from the the next telephone pole, so I ran into it. Of course I biffed it and recall laying there until a car drove by. I remember thinking " I hope they stop and help" (poor little boy) as I watched the headlights shine on the wet road. Well they did and brought me home, fat lip and all.

One of my brothers, while riding his bike to school with the wind and rain coming at him, kept his head down as he pushed on. Then he ran into the back of a parked car.

I'm not sure what to make of all this right now. I think everyone has had a wipe out with lock in pedals and shoes, so it's probably to be expected. It's just the weirdest thing though and I hope that this is it for my "biff it" stories.
