Day 59 Romulus to Binghampton

Another beautiful day in NY state. We left at 7:30 with clear skies. It's not as cool as yesterday.

Our first stop was in Ithaca (pic) where I caught up on yesterday's blog. I talked to a few people at the library about the trip (people ask what's going on) and I'm told one of them was looking at the Sea to Sea website after I left. Ithaca is the home of Cornell University, known for it's medical school and research.

We had some pretty good hills to climb, the first one was right after Ithaca, and the second was right after our lunch stop in Romford. There were others in between and after, but not too severe. Again, a nice scenic day.

Valley CRC of Binghampton NY had nice cold water for us at the 100 k (60 mi) mark. They also hosted us for a fantastic dinner with speidies (sp) of pork or chicken, salad, beans, and dessert. They have an interesting building and are situated right across from the Chenanga Forks HS where we are camping tonight. They also had a welcome sign made by their youth hanging off of a silo not far from here (pic)

We got into camp at 2:30 and it was quite warm, but it really cools down once the sun has set. (pic)

Totals for day: 125 k (75 mi), 4:47 on the saddle, 26.2 kph avg (16 mph)

Hi Randy. We are back in the
Wack. Wanted to thank you for sharing Sea to Sea with us through your blog and for showing us when we were in G.R. To God be the Glory. Blessings and safe biking in the last days ahead. Looking forward to seeing you when you get back to Chilliwack. (don't be losing anymore poundage or we won't be able to see you at all).

Hi Randy,

So sad to say good-bye to your blog. I'm not a fan of Madonna but I do like the tune of her song, "take a bow...the night is over" and it comes to mind now (except of course the part about "I've always been in love with you"). That's Shelleys line ;-).

Congratulations on a job well done, you must be feeling a great sense of satisfaction at having completed your goal.

And if you think I'm going to quote poetry and say nice things to you when you get home, your feet have been pedaling too long ;-).

Enjoy New York, Henry says it's a city that must be seen. He describes it as life the way it wasn't meant to be lived. Very interesting place to visit but not to stay.

Have fun with your family and don't cheap out. This will likely be one of the few remaining hurrahs you'll enjoy together.

I was glad to read on Fred's blog that Shell and Elly made it to NY safely. Apparently there was a computer glitch in Atlanta that caused mayhem in the aviation world. I hope you all won't be affected by the confusion.

We look forward to seeing you home again and hearing more about your adventures.

Take care,
SD the sil

Randy,

Well, the families are here, and what wonderful individuals they are! Your job? Get here!
Thinking about you everyday, taking nothing for granted.
While you and many others may be running out of things to say about the tour, thoughts of this event are still mind boggling to me.
God bless you and keep you until I see you again at Liberty state Park. CAN'T WAIT!
Blessings Friend,
Fred and Ruth Everett

Congratulations Randy! The tour is over and your wife was there to witness the moment! We have been following your trip all the way along and look forward to having you back in Chilliwack! Have a safe trip home and see you soon! Thanks for all the blog entries! How will you top this? We pray for all the participants as they get back into 'normal' life. For many of you it will not be easy.
